Arthur Donald Hancock, 77, died Saturday morning, August 8, 2009, at Magee General Hospital in Magee. Visitation was held Sunday, August 9, 2009, from 6 until 9 p.m. and will also be held from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service time today at Chancellor Funeral Home of Florence.
Don was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, and veteran of U.S. Navy. He had lived in the Florence area for the past Fifty years, where he worked as a self employed carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charley Andrew and Thelma Pace Hancock; son, Timothy Hancock; daughter, Donna Overstreet; and a sister, Edith Vincent.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Hollingsworth Hancock; his children, Kevin Hancock, Chris (Staci) Hancock, John Hancock, Susan Hancock, Stephanie (Vern) Loyd, Angie Hancock, and Art (Dena) Hancock; grandchildren, Matthew (Michelle) Hancock, Sissy (Kenny) Forst, Donald Overstreet, Kyle (Mary) Overstreet, Brett Overstreet, Amber Hancock, Nikki Loyd, Kenzie Loyd, Elijah Moore, Mkayla Hancock, and Jaxyn Hancock; and great grandchild, Will Overstreet.
Memorials may be made to the Blair E Batson Hospital for Children, or the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
