Mr. J. Q. Allbritton, age 76 years, passed away at his home near Pinola Sunday night, following an illness which had kept him abed for several weeks.

"Uncle Quitman," as he was familiarly known, had spent his entire life in Simpson County, being one of the pioneer citizens, and was indeed, one of the most esteemed residents. His life has been marked with a characteristic of good-will toward his fellowmen, and those who knew him valued his friendship very highly.

For several months Mr. Allbritton had suffered from a throat ailment, however, his condition did not seem alarming until a few weeks ago, when it was evidenced that skilled medical treatment had failed to alleviate his suffering, and his death came in the same peaceful way that his life had been spent.

Survivors are the devoted wife, Mrs. Malissa Autrey Allbritton; one daughter, Mrs. Marie Bowman, of Pinola; five sons, Jesse, Jim, and Henry Allbrittton, Pinola; J. L., and Homer Allbritton, Jackson; and T. G. Allbritton, of Harrisville.

Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. W. W. Allred, were held Monday afternoon from the Pinola Baptist Church, with interment in the family cemetery a few miles north of Pinola. Mims Mitchel Funeral Home had charge of burial, and grandsons, Eugie, Claud, Clifton, Bernice, Harold, John, Jr.. Glenn and Therrell Allbritton, served as pall bearers.
