Jackson Marine Is Killed In Action

Corporal James Kimbrall Fleming, son of Mrs. Katherine Fleming, who makes her home on the Terry Road, was killed in action on January 24, which was the day following his 23rd birthday.

He was serving with the Marine Corps somewhere in the Pacific, having been in the Pacific war area since last October.

Corporal Fleming joined the Marine Corps in 1939 shortly after he graduated from the Forest Hill High School. He went to Iceland with the first Marine Brigade, and on his return from Iceland spent a two weeks furlough with his relatives here before going on to the west coast.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his father, R. A. Fleming, Istrouma, La., three sisters, Ann Flemming, Washington, D. C. Marion and Lane Fleming, both of Jackson. Several aunts and uncles, and his grandmother, Mrs. Ida Fleming, of Star, also survive.
