SERVICES HELD FOR VICTIMS
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Monday from the Cinco Baptist Church at Fort Walton, Fla. for three of the five persons aboard a small. Beachcraft airplane which disappeared on Jan. 6 on a flight from Destin, Fla. to Magee.
Interment for the three - Marcell Bibeau, 50, his wife, Mary Ellen Ashley Bibeau, 42, and a child, Marion Everett, 11 - was in a Fort Walton Cemetery.
Still missing at press time were two other passengers in the plane, Mrs. Mettie Ashley of Harrisville, mother of Mrs. Bibeau, and Marcy Bibeau. Mr. Bibeau was the pilot.
A massive air and ground search by the Civil Air Patrol and numerous volunteers from Mississippi, Alabama and Florida for the past few weeks failed to find the missing aircraft.
Last week the body of the Everett girl was found floating in Mobile Bay near Middle Bay Light which is about half way between Mobile Harbor and the mouth of Mobile Bay on the Gulf of Mexico approximately 30 miles south of the port. Her body was identified from dental x-ray charts.
It is believed the plane crashed while attempting to reach the former Brookley Air Base in south Mobile.
Later two other bodies were recovered.
Divers have been hampered by the high winds and cool temperature of the water this week in their attempts to locate the other two victims.
Attending the memorial service Monday from Harrisville were Mrs. Myrtle Byrd, Miss Leslie Frizzell, Aubrey Frizzell, Mrs. Carl Parker, Mrs. J. V. Ashley, Misses Joann and Joyce Ashley and Mrs. Charles Price.
