Johnnie Hipp Powell, 90, of Memphis, Tn., formerly of Calhoun County, died November 2, 1999 at her home after a stroke.
Services were held in Memphis November 4, 1999. Burial was in
Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis. She was a Baptist. She was the
widow of Van K. Powell, a native of Calhoun County.
She is
survived by one son, Clint D. Powell, and a daughter-in-law, Mary
Sue Cain Powell, who cared for her, Memphis, and a sister, Doyle
Crowson, Batesville; two grandsons, Clint Powell, Jr. and Sam
Powell, both of Memphis; four great grandsons, Scott Powell, John
Powell, David Powell and Jason Powell, all of Memphis.
She was born September 10, 1909, in the Shady Grove Community,
the daughter of William P. Hipp and Maude Ragland Hipp. She lived a
good part of her life in Sarepta.
