Mrs. Carrie Phillips Dies At Oxford Thursday
Mrs. Carrie Phillips, 79, of Sarepta died in the Lafayette County Hospital last Thursday after a long illness. A widow of Billy Phillips who died in 1928, she had operated the farm since his death.
A daughter of Martin Steele and Fannie Schuttleworth Steele, she was born in Lafayette County Feb. 26, 1887. She was a Presbyterian.
Funeral services were at Sarepta Baptist Church at 1 Sat., with Rev. Edward Peeples and Rev. J.M. McMillan officiating. Burial was in Sarepta cemetery with Pryor Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were James Miller, Clell Miller, Morris Barbee, Carnish Barbee, Lewis Hipp and Leslie Stewart.
Mrs. Phillip leaves a number of nieces and nephews.
