Hardin, 95, died Thursday at the Hillcrest Hospital in Calhoun City.
She was a former lunchroom employee, a member of the Derma Baptist
Church and the widow of William Emmett Hardin. Services will be at
10:30 a.m. today at the Pryor-Wilson Funeral Home chapel with the
Revs. Elgin West and Glen Putman officiating. Burial will be in the
Oak Springs Cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Boyce Ball of Derma, Mrs.
John Henry Spencer of Water Valley, and Mrs. Harold Edwards of
Bruce; two sons,Charles Scott of Jackson and Bill Hardin of
Senatobia; two sisters, Mrs.Lois Davis of Mantee and Mrs. Lera
Wright of Houston; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one
great-great-grandchild.

City,MS] Mr. Eli Hardin Died January -- Prominent Merchant, Farmer
and All-Round Business Man Passes Away- Splendid Man.
Mr. Eli
Hardin, one of the county's most esteemed citizens died at hishome
in the Spring Hill community 6 miles south of here today, from
generalcomplications of which he had suffered for some time. Mr.
Hardin was a consecrated Christian and a leader in his church and
community, and a memberof the Masonic Fraterniay [sic] where he was
held in high esteem. He was born March 19th, 1851 and married to
Miss Alice Herrod, of Bellfountaine, Miss., in 1879 and their union
was blessed with the two surviving sons, Dr. J. A. Hardin here, and
W. E. Hardin, who resided with him in the home; he leaves a widow to
mourn his passing.
He was the oldest son of Dr. Johnothan [sic} Hardin, one of the
pioneer doctors of the county, who had seven children, he being the
oldest, and there is only one surviving member of the family, Mrs.
Eliza Dolar. Mr.Hardin was a man of good business ability and was
always very prosperous and always liberal with his means in all
benevolent causes. He was always at the head of every good move for
the betterment of his country. His remains were interred in the
Spring Hill cemetery of which church he had been a faithful member
for over half century. Rev. J. M. Spikes of Derma conducted the
funeral services. The love and esteem i {sic} which this good man
{missing}.

Services for William Emmett
Hardin who died at Edmonson Clinic at Vardaman,early Wednesday will
be held at Derma Baptist Church Thursday morning at 10:30. The Rev.
J. B. Middleton and the Rev. Elton Barlow will conduct the services.
Burial will be in Oak Springs Cemetery with Pryor Funeral Home in
charge. Mr. Hardin was 72. He was a Baptist, a retired merchant and
farmer and had been active in civic and church affairs of the county
until his health failed several years ago.
He leaves his wife,
Mrs. Eltha Kimbrell Hardin, three daughters, Mrs.Boyce Ball of
Derma, Mrs. John Henry Spencer and Mrs. Harold Edwards of Ellard;
two sons, Charles Scott Hardin of Derma and Bill Hardin of
Charleston,and five grandchildren.

Hardin Dies Wednesday Widow of the Lamented Eli Hardin Succumbs at
City -- Burial Thursday.
Mrs. Alice E. Hardin, age 84, died at the home of her son, Dr. J.
A.Hardin, at Calhoun City, this (Wednesday) morning, after an
illness of several weeks. She had been in ill health for sometime,
but her condition grew worse recently and the end came at 8 o'clock
this morning.
Mrs. Hardin was a splendid woman. She had lived
her entire life in the county and was widely and favorably known.
Before here marriage, whe was Miss Alice Harrod, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. John Harrod, deceased. Since the death of her husband some
years ago, she has resided with her sons, Emmett Hardin, of Derma,
and Dr. J. A. Hardin, of this city.
She was a kindly and considerate woman -- a good neighbor and
loyal to her family and friends. She was a member of the Baptist
Church, which she joined while quite young, and had lived a
consecrated christian life. Funeral arrangements are under direction
of the Pryor Funeral Home, of this city. The funeral will be
conducted from the chapel of the Pryor Funeral Home at 9:30 o'clock
Thursday morning, followed by interment in the cemetery at Spring
Hill. Rev. J. W. T. Siler will have charge of the funeral services
and will be assisted by Rev. E. F. Tucker. She is survived by two
sons, Dr. J. A. Hardin, Calhoun City, and Emmett Hardin, Derma.

Hardin Dies At Jackson on September 9
Mr. Ruble Hill Hardin, age
61, a native of Calhoun County, who was born at Pittsboro during the
years his father, the lamented Mike Carroll Hardin served as the
County's Sheriff, passed away on Wednesday, September 9,1959, at his
residence in Jackson, Miss., where he had resided for the past ten
years.
Mr. Hardin had engaged in farming and as a lumberman. He served
in the U. S. Military Service during World War I. He also served one
term as a member of the Mississippi Legislature from Calhoun County
in past years.He was a Baptist. Mr. Hardin had many friends in
Calhoun County. Blessed with a pleasing personality and with a good
mind, he was affable and pleasant to all with whom he came in
contact. His death caused sadness in many homesin Calhoun, since he
was related to many families of the county and was well liked by his
friends.
He married the former Miss Mattie Lee Doolittle, of
Slate Spring, whonow lives in Jackson. His mother also survives and
was the former Miss Mallie Elizabeth Neal, of Montgomery County.
She, too, lives in Jackson.Funeral services were held at the
Wright-Ferguson Funeral Chapel in Jackson,on Friday, Sept 11, with
interment in Lakeview cemetery in Jackson.
Besides his wife and
mother, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Sarah Frances Hollick,
of Jackson, and Miss Ann Born, of Guntersville, Ala.; by a brother,
Charley M. Hardin of Calhoun City, and a sister, Mrs. Jessie
Phillips, of Hattiesburg; and by five grand-children.
