OLD CITIZEN - Services set for Thursday

Hasting-Mt. Comfort
One of Bruce's oldest citizens died
quietly in his sleep about mid-morning Tuesday, June 21, 1960.
Benjamin Josephus Hasting died in the home of his daughter, Mrs. B.
D. Parker, where he had been living since the death of his wife some
months ago. He had been in failing health for some time, but was
feeling as well as usual Tuesday morning. He had been up and had his
breakfast, when he went back to his room to rest. He passed quietly.
Mr. Hasting was born in Calhoun County. He was a retired
farmer, a Baptist and a lover of sacred harp sing. He was 89.
Services will be at Mt. Comfort Baptist Church at 3:00 Thursday.
Rev. James R. Henry will officiate, and burial will follow in the
church cemetery with Cook Funeral Home in charge.
Active
pallbearers will be Colonel Gullick, Z. R. Hasting Jr., Leroy
McKibben, Bill Shoemake, George Reeder and Charles Neal.
Honorary pallbearers are Arch Stewart, Lonnie Hardin, Harry Tallent,
Ben Bennett, Curt Grist, Kit Miles and W. J. Davis.
Mr.
Hasting leaves two daughters, Mrs. B. D. Parker and Mrs Minnie Belle
Clark, both of Bruce: a son, Jim Hasting, Memphis: a brother, Z. R.
Hasting, Sr., Bruce: 17 grandchildren:31 Great grandchildren: amd 5
great great grandchildren.
