      CHAPMAN: Looking for Joel Dire CHAPMAN b 1818 (prob. not in Mississippi). He married in Mississippi and had a dau, Adeline, born 13 Jan 1841 in Mississippi. In 1847 both Joel and dau were in Illinois--no mention of his wife. Any suggestions as to Joel CHAPMAN's family or marriage information would be appreciated.

      ROSS, Unknown County: Looking for the parents of Josiah ROSS born 1854 in TN. In the census records he listed his father as being born in MS and his mother in NC. I can't find his family in the 1860 TN census. In the 1850 TN census there is only one ROSS family with the MS/NC combination. It is the family of Francis ROSS born about 1820 MS and Sarah ROSS born about 1820 in NC. They were living in Henderson Co., TN and had sons, James, William, Squire and Francis.       Looking for information on the GOLEMAN(GOLDMAN) line. My great grandfather was James Allen Goleman, b 27 May 1874 in Spring Hill, Mississippi. Married Lura Elizabeth PERRY on 14 Mar 1895, died 13 Mar 1954. His father was Thomas Soloman Goleman. James Allen had a daugher Ada Lucille GOLEMAN who is my grandmother.

      I am doing research on the CROSSNOE/CROSSNO/CROSNO/CROSNOE/ CROSNOW family tree. All Crossnoe's of whatever spelling are believed to be related, originating with George Crossnore, an immigrant who migrated from N.Carolina across Tennessee. Most eventually settled in middle and western Tennessee, but some continued to migrate into Mississippi, Arkansas, and Missouri.       BENNETT, H. (Handley) S.--H. S. Bennett was born in Tenn. about 1810, and married Mariah who was born in KY about 1822.. There were 6 children, all were born in Mississippi , and they were Sophia, Louisa, H. C, Mitt? E. G., and J.M. In l860, they were living in Lamar County Texas, and he was one of the wealthiest Texans in the l860 census. According to some information, he was a former Congressman from Mississippi before he moved to Texas. Would like to know about his life in Mississippi for a high school research project.
