My family has some connection to Aberdeen. I believe that a great grandfather was named Coleman. It may have been something like P.E. Coleman. The family has scattered but I know some land was sold in the general area approximatly 30 years ago. Family lore has it that the family was bitterly divided during the War Between the States and the rift never repaired. One segment was connected with Sam Houston and were strong Union supporters. That branch may have been connected with the Travis and Ackerman families as lawyers and land speculaters in Texas. Any information would be interesting. Thanks.

GORDON Family, My name is Dave Ashworth email adress is as follows: d-l_ashw@etex.net I have information that would interest a number of Monroe Co., Mississippi researchers I am sure, especially descendants of the GORDON family. I am offering to share this information free of any charge. My cousin from Gatesville, Tx. bought at an auction in Corsicana, Tx. an old Ledger from a general store business in Aberdeen. The ledger covers a time period of 1847 to about 1868. What is unique is that this ledger was later used as a scrap book by Miss Fannie Paine GORDON. Miss GORDON had used the pages of the old store ledger to paste Newspaper clippings of marriages, deaths, and current events from Monroe Co., Mississippi that included a time period from the 1860s through the early 1880s. I would love to visit with anyone interested. The ledger/scrapbook is of inestimable genealogical value. thanks, dave
