1997
- Am seeking information on my ancestors and their
relatives or descendants. My grandmother, whose
birthname was Alma WHITE, was born on May 26, 1898, in
Pontotoc, Mississippi. I believe Pontotoc is both a
city and a county. Lee County is adjacent. Her parents
were William Franklin WHITE and Caroline SHANNON. By
1920, her parents had died, and she was living in or
near Columbia, SC. It is not known when she moved
there, whether she went alone or with one or both
parents, or when or where her parents died. She may
have been part American Indian - at least that is what
she told people. There was another family member named
Ida May SHANNON, but I don't know how she was related.
This is all I have, and getting any further on my own
is hard because I'm in Russia. I would sincerely
appreciate any help, advice, suggestions or lookups.
