Roberts, Meredith M.

Served in Jeff Davis Legion, Co. C. Meredith Meadows Roberts was born in Chester, SC, December 14, 1824. Family moved to Mississippi in the 1840's and were living in Kemper County at the time of his enlistment. He enlisted August 17, 1861 at Iuka MS. He spent most of his time during the war in Maryland, and Virginia and ended the war in South Carolina. Most of his time in service was spent working with the horses in some capacity, either foraging, working, or treating the ones no longer able to be used. After the war he stayed in SC. He met his first wife and settled in Pickens County, SC. After her death he married again and later moved to Dalton, GA, where he lived until his death December 31, 1902. He and second wife, son and daughter-in-law are buried in Antioch Cemetery, Dalton, GA. He was the father of 2 daughters, and 1 son
