Cpl. Christopher Columbus Neal, Co H, 36th MS Infantry (formed at Lauderdale and known as Edwards Tigers) was born - and lived his entire life- near Moscow. He and several of his children are buried at Mt Pleasant Methodist Cemetery.
He was at Vicksburg and was later paroled. He rejoined his unit and was captured at Allatoona, GA. Oct 8, 1864. He spent the remainder of the war at Camp Chase Ohio (prison camp). Following his release, he returned to his farm about 2 miles NW of Mt Pleasant Church. He died in 1881 at the age 39.
