Ann Maria Ambrose James) born Wilmington, N.C., 1811, died Biloxi 1882, came to
Holmes Co from Wilmington with parents Joshua James, Sr., and Hetty-Bella Sage
James, and possibly with sister Sarah Julia James McIntyre, wife of Andrew
MacIntyre (McIntire?). They were both Freemasons living Richlands, Ms. (name for
Richlands, Onslow co., N.C.?) and Joshua died Lexington, Ms. (1851?). Lt. Col
Robert James removed to New Orleans, then Biloxi. Widowed, in New Orleans he wed
2nd Miss Jane Ann Nixon. In Wilmington, Joshua was a port "naval officer" who
inspected the quality and quantity of tar and pitch exports. In New Hanover
County, he ran for sheriff, but lost. Seek Joshua and Hetty's grave, other
