Chapman, Rupert Leander, Sr.

Rupert Leander Chapman, Senio was born near Youngs in 1886. His parents were William Robert Chapman and Mary Lou Dow, who are buried in the Tabernacle Cemetery in Yalobusha County, and also my Grandmother, Carrie Frances Davis, who was born, grew up and was married on the Old Davis Place, near Banner.

Carrie Davis' parents were James Absolem Davis and Martha Ellen Cobb. James Davis was born in Calhoun City, in 1848 and died in 1925 and Great Grandmother Davis was born in or near Banner in 1857 and died in 1933.

The Davis and Cobb families go back a long way in Calhoun County. The Chapmans lived mainly in Yalobusha County, so far as I can tell - quite how Granddaddy Chapman came to be born in Calhoun County isn't recorded in any document I've seen so far.
