The Pastor

Bethel (Blackjack) is an ancient institution that has touched the lives of thousands of people for good. I realize the inadequacies of the sketch, but my aging faculties are also inadequate. To offset the shortcomings may I plead that I brought my basket over fifty years, which was a labor of love.

"Oh, the old home church of our childhood days,
Within thy walls we found a Savior, learned his ways;
Twas here our mothers worshiped through the years.
And still thy silence echoes a long-dead father's prayers.
Within thy sacred shade in faith our loved ones sleep"
Guard well their resting place; thy tender vigil keep.

Long may thy friendly spire point us to One above--
While all the countryside enshrines thee with its love."
