I am looking for any information on the Rook and St. John families who lived in Union County. Some of the family is listed on the 1880 Union County census record. Sallie Rook was the mother of 8 children: Eliza (married Columbus St. John), Ella, Ollie (Sarah Olivia), Theresa, Martha, Clementine, Thomas (who died young), and Duncan Coleman Rook. Duncan Coleman Rook was my great grandfather. The St. John family that I know about is the father Arthur, sons Columbus, Jefferson, Bill and Jim. These two families moved to Yell County, Arkansas somewhere between 1880-1885. Three of the Rook sisters married 3 of the St. John men. Arthur St. John was married 3 times. I am particularly interested in the father of the Rook family. Sallie is listed as a widow on the 1880 census. I don't know what Sallie's maiden name was.

Some information I found indicated that Pleasant and Jane lived in the Cotton Plant area in the 1850s-60s. I've been unable to locate where any of these ancestors were buried, who the females married, etc. I'm also searching for the parents of Pleasant in TN. My ggrandfather is William H. Randolph who married Clementine Bell Stone, daughter of John and Margaret Bell. William died in 1883, and is buried in Lebanon Cemetery @ 3 miles east of New Albany. I've been unable to locate the cemetery, told it's on private property. Clementine is buried in the New Albany Cemetery next to her brother, Giles Bell. Children: (born in MS) William Benjamin, b.1877, d.1937 in Memphis, Ira L., b.1882, d.?, buried in Ecru Cemetery. My grandfather is William Benjamin who married Etta Caldwell in 1902 in New Albany. Dr. Thomas Clay Williamson, DOB 1827 in AL, son of Sabrita "Sabra" Dulaney and George Williamson (born in Ireland), married three times to a Mary Wiley, to?, and to Rhoda "Rhody, Cornwell Mathews (or Matthews), a widow, several years younger than T. C.. Rhody and T. C. had three children: Thomas Dorsey Williamson, born in AR during the Civil War while his mother was with her mother, was named for the Dr. Dorsey (possibly an uncle of T.C.) with whom Dr. Williamson trained. The two families are next to each other in the 1850 Pontotoc County census and both are listed as physicians. Second son with Rhody was Maximillian Wade Williamson (Max); then they had a daughter, Rhoda Williamson (who married a Hathcock). The entire family moved in the early 1880's from Union/Lee County to Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. Rhody died in 1887 there. Sometime shortly after that, both sons, now married, and Rhoda (the daughter) and her husband, moved to Pottawatomie County, OT, and homesteaded, founding the town of Brown, OK. T.C. died before Oklahoma statehood, but not before marrying again. His granddaughter, Jesse (called Pete) Williamson, (born about 1896) went to MS to visit relatives, met a Mr. Dorsey, married him and stayed there - probably in Union County. They had only one child, a daughter named Elizabeth (Liz) Dorsey, born about 1928-1929, who graduated from Ole MS. She went to Shawnee, OK, to visit relatives, met Warren Winsett, married him and stayed there. Does anyone remember or know anything about this extended family? Dr. Thomas Clay Williamson and Rhody are my children's gggrandparents, Max is their ggrandfather and Jesse (Pete) is their great aunt. Thanks, Mary Lou Branson, Ft Worth, TX
