CARLISLE, PERRY, SAFFELL posted by Orene(Carlisle) Fennell on Tuesday, September 17, 1996

CARLISLE, JOHN...Am searching for ANY info. I know he was born in NC, 1810-11. His father was of foriegn birth. Do not know about his mother, or their names. Sibblings? I know he married my g. grandmother, Matilda Ophelia PERRY, in 1835. She was b. AL -1819. Their first son, WILLIAM, was born in TN, 1836. JASPER, NEWTON (twins), and ELIZABETH JANE, b.around 1844, were born in AL. The next son FRANCIS MARION, my g. father, b. Nov 1, 1846, I'm not sure about. One census says AL, another MS. Last son by MATILDA, HARLEY FRANKLIN, was probably born in MS. The 1850 census shows theim, along with JOHN, living in Chocktaw Co, MS. By 1860, MATILDA OPHELIA had died (latter part of 1850) and JOHN had married again to NANCY JANE SAFFELL, and had a two year old daughter, CLARINDA. Still in Chocktaw Co. JOHN CARLISLE was a Mason. Member of Lodge # 224. He also built the New Hope Presbyterian Church around 1848, located on the Walthall-West point Rd. in Webster Co. MS. He died May 2, 1874. Can find no records of death, or burial place. The date I found in the Masonic death records book. 1819-1919, book-1. If ANYONE out there has ANYTHING, please e-mail at: vof@beta.jesupnet.com Thanks in advance!!!!

HOLLIDAY, LOVIN posted by Dave Holiday on Thursday, October 10, 1996

I am looking for the parents of William W. HOLLIDAY and of Zachariah HOLLIDAY (probably brothers). More detailed info can be found in my recent query posted to Orange Co, NC. In 1850 CHICKASAW census, I have found: John C. HOLLIDAY 51-NC, Sarah 50-SC, Sarah Jane 21-TN, Massey S. 19-TN, Thomas J. 16-TN, William F. 14-TN, Andrew J. 12-TN, Elizabeth 10-MS. Thomas J. HOLLIDAY seems to be the person who joined WW and Zach in Upshur Co, TX around 1855 and later lived in Mt. Pleasant, Titus Co, TX in 1870 census (then disappeared). At first he was thought to be another brother, but doubtful since another William appears in this family. Sarah and Andrew appeared to have soon married in Hardeman Co, TN, where there were other known connections to a John M. HOLLIDAY (VA,GA,TN), known to be gfather of Louisa LOVIN, who married William W. HOLLIDAY TN-Madison-1847. I know much about John M., but little about a Wesley HOLLIDAY, also in Hardeman Co. It is quite possible that more than one HOLLIDAY line are involved here. Does anyone know anything about these people? I suspect that John C. may have previously been in Williamson Co, TN. Thanks!
