A little girl by the name of Mary was born in Alabama on 24 Oct 1837, she was only 16 when her Father, Samuel Davis died. Her Mother was Susan Campbell Davis b 14 March, 1814. Her two grandfathers were Revolutionary War Soldiers, Chesley Davis who lived Abbeville District, S. C. in 1827 and David Campbell, also of S. C. who came to Greene County Alabama in 1817. David Campbell's wife was Lucretia who died prior to 1856. Mary had 7 brothers and sisters.
Robert also lost his Father, Robert Moore b 1789, when he was a young child. His Mother was Theodosia Hamilton b 1800, d.1890. Robert and Theodosia were
married in 1814. Her parents were Hance Hamilton (1755-1812) and Mary McNairy (ca 1760 - 1835)
His grandfather was Loderivck and his wife was Rachel McNairy Moore (1765-1843), daughter of Frances and Mary Hampton McNairy. Robert had 8
brothers and sisters.
On the 24th day of March,1858, in the home of her Mother, Susan Davis, in Sumter County, Alabama, Robert Moore and Mary Davis were married. Sometimes later they moved to Kemper County, Ms. in the Millington area and raised the following children:
ANNA JOSEPHINE MOORE born 23 Jan. 1867, died 27 Oct. 1936, married John T. Lanier 14 Dec. 1893. Their children Edna, Birdie, Jeff, Bob and Roy
EMMA DAVIS MOORE born 5 May, 1872, died 22 Nov. 1900. Never married, buried at Binnsville Cemetery
ETHELDRA LAKE MOORE born 12 Feb. 1877, died 28 March, 1961, Married 3 Jan. 1901, John Thomas Craig, born 16 April 1877, died 10 August 1958. Their children Annie Mae Craig, Stella Ray, Carl Wardell, James Alfred, and Julia Moore Craig.
CHARLIE BAKER MOORE born 6 Mar. 1879, died 12 Dec. 1946, married Johnie Atkinson 27 Feb. 1903. Their children Colon, Lucille, Baker, Walton and Eugene
CORINNA MOORE born 17 April 1881, died 3 Dec. 1912, married Frank Atkinson, No Children.
ALFRED MOORE born 10 Nov. 1886, he was 86 when he died, married Daisy Clark, their children Allyne, Robert, Clark, Milton, Grace, Iola, Carie Ella.
Mary Davis and Robert Moore are buried at Binnsville Cemetery in Kemper County. He served in the Civil War and his Civil War marker has no dates (1836-1926). Mary died 2 Aug 1906.
So this is the story of Mary and Robert and their children.
