OBITUARIES FROM THE PONTOTOC PROGRESS

Lisa Akins
    Lisa Kay Akins, 33, died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis. She was born April 15, 1966, in Pontotoc County. She was a member of Keownville Baptist Church and an employee of Meadow Brook Furniture Manufacturing Co.
    Services were Wednesday, Aug. 11, at United Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Joe Herndon and the Rev. Wayne Higgins officiating. Burial was in Glenfield Memorial Park.
    Survivors include one daughter, Brittney Lane Akins; her parents, Jack and Betty Cook Fanning of New Albany; one sister, Wanda Wilson of Cleveland, Ohio; one brother, Jackie Fanning of Wichita Kan.
    Pallbearers were Donald Cook, Eddie Cook, Gerald Thompson, Michael Thompson, Edgar Williamson, and Keith Higgans.

Lorene Alexander
    Velda Lorene Hodge Alexander 71, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. She was a disabled factory worker. She enjoyed flowers. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Missouri Patterson Hodge; and one brother, Hubert Hodge.
    Services were Monday, Oct 11, at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Walker officiating. Burial was in Jumertown Cemetery.
    Survivors include her husband of 55 years, J. R. Alexander; five daughters, Patsy Padgett and her husband, Doyle, Peggy Hall and her husband, Wayne, Diane Rowland and her husband, Ronny, Debbie Lambert and her husband, Dwight, and Donna Durham and her husband, Charlie, all of Booneville; three sisters, Tressie Gitter of Booneville, Eunice Hilton of Texas, and Vera McDonald of Florida; two brothers, Cletus Hodge of Pontotoc; nine grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren.
    Pallbearers were Gene Gitter, Thomas Gitter, Bobby Hodge, Jerry Hodge, Ray Alexander, and Mike Dees.


Billie G. Andrews

Billy G. Andrews, 62 died Saturday, July 24, 1999, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was a maintenance man for General Electric and a Baptist.
    Services were Sunday, July 25, at Browning Funeral Home in Ecru with a man Bro. Kevin Merritt officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery.
    Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Andrews of Pontotoc; two daughters, Deborah Golebiewski, and her husband, Mike, of Tupelo, and Teresa Robbins and her husband, Eddie, of Pontotoc; one son, Ferrell Andrews, and his wife, Margaret, of Pontotoc; one sister, Lavenia McDonald of Pontotoc, Two brothers, Herbert F. Andrews, and his wife, Wilma, of Memphis, and L. B. Andrews and his wife, Joyce, of Byhalia; seven grandchildren.
