Through my FORTSON line I have connections to a HOLLIDAY family that seems to have been in Monroe County. I do not know much about them and do not have good authority for most of the information I have. If someone can help me with this family, please get in touch. My g-g-grandparents were Benjamin Joseph FORTSON (1820-1855) and Elizabeth Ann Titus HOLLIDAY (1824-1867). I think both were born in Greene County, Georgia. The FORTSON family (Ben's parents) arrived in Monroe County in 1837, and Ben and E.A.T. married there in 1839. They moved on to Texas in 1852. Her parents are said to have been Titus HOLLIDAY (1801-?) and Elizabeth Ann Catherine EDWARDS (?-?). They had connections to Green County, Georgia, but they almost certainly must have come to Monroe County if daughter E.A.T. did not marry until after she was in Monroe County. Titus is said to be the son of William HOLLIDAY and Nancy CARR. I know nothing much about them--or the HOLLIDAY, CARR, and EDWARDS families, for that matter.

I am trying to find information on W.W."Billy" Wells who is buried in the Smithville Cemetery. He lived just north of Amory near the Trace Road. There was a Wells schoolhouse in that area or so I was told. Billy had several sons, one of whom was Joe Well, my greatgrandfather. I have no info on Billy, other than the fact that he and two brothers were sent from Scotland to Georgia sometime between 1848 ( when Billy was born) and 1900. Noone knows what happened to the two brothers. Billy's first wife was Artemacy, who is buried beside him. He remarried, but I do not know what the second wife's name was. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
