DUNN, YEWELL posted by Richard Jackson on Monday, August 22, 2005

My grt grt grandfather, Isaac Dunn, was in the 30th Mississippi Infantry, Co. K He was killed in action on or about Oct. 1, 1863 in the area of Chattanooga. He also had two brothers in the 29th Infantry, and two brothers in law in the same. The surname was Yewell. Only one I can find listed is John Yewell who was caotured along with his brother in the area of Chattanooga, Tn. I know John Yewell was wounded and his older brother would not leave him and was also captured. This is from family history passed down through the years. It is said that John Yewell died from cholera at Rock Island, Ill. I can find no mention of his older brother (John was sixteen) or Isaac Dunn, or Pleasant Dunn and brother Hiram Dunn. Pleasant and Hiram were in the 29th Infantry. It is said that Henry Dunn was also in one of the Regiments. It is also possible one of them deserted. Either Hiram or Henry. Henry and Pleasant were in Robson's Rebels. I havce no idea as to where Isaac Dunn was buried so if you havce any info on this please pass it on to me at comanche1115@charter.net Thanks for any help you cam give.
