Services for Myra Ann "Annie" Givens of Duncan are 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Lawrence County. Visitation is today from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Miss Givens, 81, died Feb. 3, 2002, at Clarksdale Hospital. She was born in Lawrence County on Nov. 22, 1920, to Scott Givens and Elizabeth Howell Givens. She was disabled. She enjoyed sewing, bingo, and other table games. She was a member of the Baptist faith.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her sister, Lucille Givens-Harris Radford; her brother, John W. Givens; her half brother and sisters, Joe Givens, Marshall Givens, Virgil Givens, Ed Givens, Washington "Wash" Givens, Cliff Givens, Alice Givens Eaton, Nell Givens Holmes, and Ellie Givens Crotty.
Survivors are her sisters, Rosalie Givens Alderman and husband Edwin of Hope, Ark., Minnie Ruth Givens-Hill Alderman and husband James of Albuquerque, N.M., and Lillian Givens-Taylor Rogers and husband Billy Charles of Andrews, Texas; her nieces and nephew, Linda Alderman Horn of Huntsville, Ala., Libby Alderman Benson of Doniphan, Mo., Rebecca Alderman Walker of Albuquerque, N.M., Charles Rogers of Midland, Texas, Sara Rogers Rose and Kathleen H. Palmer, both of Plano, Texas, and Melinda Rogers Young of Andrews, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Walter Givens Jr., Mitchell Givens, Wilmer Howell, Bufford Howell Jr., Norris Thompson and Jessie Earl Givens. Honorary pallbearers will be Edwin A. Alderman, James O. Alderman, Billy Charles Rogers, Cliff Givens, and Jimmy Howell.
