On March the 30th, 1890, James L. R. Criscoe, son of Robert Criscoe, of Lincoln County, Mississippi, died.
Brother Jimmie, as he was familiarly called, was about 30 years old. He was baptized on a profession of faith in Christ in September, 1882, and lived up to the rules of his profession. The writer of this sketch visited him in his home, often noticed him in the house of God, and can unite with the many friends that said on the day of his burial a good citizen, a true neighbor, a kind and loving son, one of the best of husbands, a pious and tender parent, and devoted christian will be missed from Antioch church and neighborhood.
His pleasant manners were very impressive. A widow, six children, father, mother, three sisters, and many friends mourn his loss, to whom we will say, weep not without hope (for “Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord”); but serve the God of brother Jimmie, live the life he lived, bow in humble submission to the will of God, and after death you will meet him in Heaven.
