BOUTWELL RITES HELD DOWNSTATE
Prominent Matron of Monticello Succumbs to Sudden Heart Attack
MONTICELLO, Jan. 28 - Mrs M. W. Boutwell, 59, esteemed resident of Monticello for about twenty years, died at the family home here suddenly from a heart attack. She had been up the day before but for many years had been an invalid.
She was born in Lawrence county and had lived here for the greater part of her life. Many years ago she united with the Pleasant Grove Methodist church near this place but held her membership with the Monticello Methodist church at the time of her death. Before her marriage she was Miss Leona Lewis.
Immediate survivors are her husband, one daughter, Miss Hervie Boutwell, and a son, Walter Boutwell, all of Monticello. One granddaughter, Miss Daisy Boutwell, who made her home here in the Boutwell home, and a grandson also survive with two sisters, Mrs. W. S. Wallace of Jayess, and Mrs. Lucy Russell of Isola, Miss., and a brother, Sam Lewis of McComb.
Funeral services were held Monday morning at the Antioch Baptist church, ten miles southwest of this place, with her pastor, Rev. L. M. Sharp, in charge of the services. Interment was made in the Antioch church cemetery beside her children.
Mrs. Boutwell was a member of the G. A. Teunisson chapter, No. 95, Order of the Eastern Star. Before the funeral party left for the church, the impressive service of the Eastern Star was held at the Boutwell home here under the direction of Mrs. E. L. Givens, worthy matron.
