William Regan Cemetery

(which is on the old Wyoming Plantation)

This cemetery is up on the hill behind the Mississippi Chemical Plant here in Yazoo County. This land that the Chemical plant is built on ( plus the Family Cemetery ) was owned by the Regan Family and when the Grandfather, William Regan, died a son gave the land to his uncle’s folks, they turned around and sold the land to the Chemical Plant, but forgot to reserve the Family Cemetery.

Sometime ago it came about that the descendants were denied entrance to the cemetery, so Lena Mae, a Granddaughter, jumped in feet first to see what could be done about it. She wrote a article about the cemetery in the local Newspaper. After this she got them to let her family keep it up and care for it. The Chemical Plant deeded the ¾ th. of a acre that covered the Cemetery, back to her.

She said that not only were the Regan Family buried there but that people from out in the Delta buried their family there also because of the flooding in the delta. There are probably over 200 people buried up there in the Regan Cemetery.

Note from current county coordinator: When I originally took over, this page only contain a description without any burial listings. At the same time, there was a folder on the server called Regan Cemetery with pictures of tombstones. I'm assuming those tombstones are suppose to be listed here.
