James WALKER came to Tippah Co MS from GA with his wife Jane BARKLEY
and children. He had several brothers there in the time frame 1830-1870.
Other WALKERS in the family were Joseph, Ezekiel, Goldsmith, John. I am
a descendant of James' son THOMAS who married Frances WILLSON. They were
on the 1850 Tippah Co Census. James, Thomas, Goldsmith, and John removed
before 1860 to the area of Lavaca County, TX. Would like to correspond
with descendants of any of these Walkers.

Searching for my long lost GGGgrandfather WALKER. His children John
Caldwell Calhoun WALKER and Amanda J. WALKER, who married R.N. (R.M.) STEPHENS
in 1867 Tippah County, appeared in the 1860 Tippah County Census with OWENS
family, Oswald and Mary C. Mary C. WALKER appeared in the 1850 Tippah County
Census married to Hugh WALKER. I believe this could be their father, but
would like to know if any others who are researching the WALKER family
have any information on him. The census states he was born in SC {1814}
and there are other WALKERS born in SC who appeared in the same census.

MARY ELIZABETH WALLACE was b. April 30, 1839, and died April 30, 1874.
On June 24, 1864, she married William Payton HANDLEY in Tippah County,
Mississippi. This is second hand information, of course. In 1975, when
I began researching, William Payton had four children still living and
the youngest had his Bible in which he had listed his marriages and his
offspring. He was married three times and Mary Elizabeth was the first
wife. According to the four children living in 1975, he met and married
his first wife in Ripley, Mississippi. I believe that is in Tippah County.
If a marriage certificate (or death certificate) could be found, it should
be a big help. I do not know the names of her parents, but Payton's second
wife was her niece (MARY SUSAN WALLACE) so we know she had at least one
brother. Any help appreciated.

I have been researching the family of W. T. Watkins who was born in
Mecklenburg County Va 31DEC1810 and moved to Tippah County in the 1840's.
I have seen photos of his home in Tippah County, west of Walnut very near
the Benton County line. I have also located his and wife's grave just across
the line in Benton County. Of particular interest is his son who was born
23may1842 in VA. He would have been in his 30's during the start of the
Civil War. I have not found him in the Civil War Archives. He married Dora
Emmiline Abernathy, but I do not know when. John isburried in Olive Branch,
MS. I do not believe any relatives remain in Tippah County. The families
were very large and I have uncountable Watkins relatives in the Memphis
area.
I also have information on three generations back before W.T. Watkins
that moved to Tippah County. All information is available for anyone interested.
I have lost contact with some of the family that went even further than
I when we started recording the history in the late 1960's.
My information is not well organized at the moment, looking for the
best way to computerize handwritten records so that sharing is accommodated.
I would gladly answer questions that anyone has on what I know of the family.

I am looking for information on William Thomas WATKINS, b 31 Dec 1810,
in VA, married Eveline CULBREATH, 28Nov1840, and moved to Tippah County
in the early 1840's. The lived west of Walnut in Tippah County, and are
burried just across the county line in Benton County. I am particularly
interested in Civil War records of their son, John H. Watkins, b. 23 May1842.
He would have been 18 at the start of the the Civil War, but I cannot find
any record of service. He is burried in Olive Branch, MS. John H. married
Dora Emmiline ABERNATHY and I have no information about the ABERNATHY lineage.

I am looking for any information on the above families in Tippah County
in the 1840 -1855 time frame. My ggrandfather Linza R. Brim and wife Jemima
(Simpson) Brim were in the 1850 census for Tippah Co. Linza was born in
Lincoln Co.,TN in 1828/29 the son of William Brim/Mary Westbrook. I have
very little information on the family during that time except that William
died while Linza was young and some of the family moved to Tippah Co. Linza
moved to Navarro Co., TX in 1854 where he married Sarah J. Scott in 1869
after Jemima died in 1868. Sarah was born in MS in 1848 but I don't know
if it was in Tippah Co. Her family came to TX in 1851. I don't know if
Linza had siblings but assume he did since a bibliography of him from Navarro
Co. said he was the only member of his family to come to Texas. I am descended
from his second marriage. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I am interested in families related to the WILSON, ROSSON, MARS or
SWINDLE lines, Henry WILSON married Mary SWINDLE in Tippah county in 1860
the family lived in a location that later was to become Alcorn county.
Henry had Nancy J, Mahaly J, Moses, Sarah A, Charlotte and Laney from a
previous marriage to Nancy Ann Ragsdale. He and Mary had Joe, Launa, Lidia,
Emily and William A. with Mary Swindle. Henry's father was Moses WILSON.
Both Henry and Mary were born in Tennessee.
Henry ROSSON was born in Tippah county abt 1860 to Mary ROSSON, He
married Mary MARS abt 1880 in Alcorn county. They had Mamie, Joe, Bunyon,
Maggie, Henry, Curtis, and Lillie. I know very little about the ROSSON
and MARS families. Descendants of all 4 families moved to the Northeast
portion of Texas or the Southeast portion of Oklahoma.

was married to JESSEE WILSON. He was also in Tippah Co in 1840, but his
