RAGSDALE, WILSON
NANCY ANN RAGSDALE m. HENRY WILSON in 1830 in Madison Co. TN. In 1840-50,
they were in Tippah Co and nearby was ABEL RAGSDALE, who also migrated
from Madison Co TN. It is believed by other researchers that RHETTA RAGSDALE
was married to JESSEE WILSON. He was also in Tippah Co in 1840, but his
1st wife had evidently died about 1835 in McNairy Co TN. Can anyone clue
me in on these RAGSDALES. Thank you very much.

Name: Tom Sherard
RAINEY
Would appreciate any information concerning the old Rainey Estate at
Cotton Plant, MS just south of Ripley. Mr. Rainey must have lived here
in the 1920's and 1930's. and was reported to have maintained a zoo at
the estate and have large fox hunting parties. It was said that he died
at sea returning from an African hunting trip. Any info on Mr. Rainey or
the estate would be appreciated.

I am searching for information on Daniel GUTHRIE and Nancy RAINEY.
They were married in Hardeman, County, TN, on January 18, 1848. They are
listed with son William in the 1850 census in Tippah County. In 1860 they
are still in Tippah County with children William, Mary, Martha, Katie,
Annie, Sarah, and John. The 1870 Tippah County census lists Nancy with
children Katie, Annie, Sarah, John and F. G. There is no mention of Daniel.
I am interested in sharing information about these two familes.

Co. TN 2 Dec 1848. In the Hardemen Co 1860 Census he's listed as living
with his wife Mary 28 and a dghtr, Fanny V. b. Miss, age 10 so she was
b. 1850. Also John was enlisted in Co E, 15th Tn Cav. 1 Oct 1863 in Tippah

John Riley Rev. Sol. born a 1768 Amhurst Co. Va. was in Orange Co.
NC for his service and marriage a 1779 to Nancy Jane Lynch (Mrs. Smith).
He was in Greene Co. Ga. by 1820 where he received land in the land lottery.
He was probably in Al. shortly after 1830 where his son John Jr. was. By
1850 He was in Tippah Co. Miss. pg. 497 1161 over 90 years old, with two
old maid daughters Frances and Nancy. John was next door. Back in Ga. were
at least Joseph a 1780, Thomas Lynch a 1782, Jacob 1789, and the Miss John
b 1800 Ga, Frances 1802 and Nancy 1806 both Ga. Does anyone have this family?
DAR Papers show only Miss connections. Trying to prove his Ga. family.

in VA or NC, m.ca1775, d.ca1833-35 in Anderson Co., SC. His son Henry Roach
was b.ca1782 in VA, m.ca1799, d.ca1859 in Franklin Co., GA. His son was
Berry b.ca1800-06 in SC, m.#13/22/1823, d.1865. First wife was Susannah
Mays, second was Malinda. His son was Elijah "Lige" b.ca1850-52 in MS,
m.4/28/1880 to Frances M. Dunnam Barden. Their son was William Berry b.3/15/1883
in MS, m.11/8/1908, d.9/11/1958 in Tippah Co., MS. He married Minnie Lee
Wammack b.12/19/1889, d.2/15/1936 in Tippah Co., MS. Their son was William
Russell Roach-my father-in-law. This branch came to Tippah by the 1850

Looking for information on ROBERSON family, resident in Tippah Co.,
MS from ca. 1837-57. Thomas ROBERSON,b.1804, SC, m. Margaret Ann EMERSON,
b.1807, SC. Probably married in TN, where they lived 1826-37. Several children
born in Tippah Co: Elmira Frances (1837), William R. (1843), Martha (1844),
Malinda (1848, Thomas W (1852). Also in Tippah Co. at the time were Thomas
Roberson Sr's brother, William ROBERSON and his wife, Prudence. Two Roberson
daughters are thought to have married and stayed behind in MS when family
went to TX: Margaret (b.ca. 1833) and Addeline (b.ca. 1835). Addeline married
a Rev. T.M. MONTGOMERY, family believed to be Methodist. Margaret Emerson
Roberson's mother, MARY EMERSON (maiden name unknown) may also have died
in MS before they migrated to TX (This is the same family Joe and Linda
Lee are researching.

of William Thomas ROGERS - but none on his 3 sisters. Also I do not know

WILSON SWINDLE
I am interested in families related to the WILSON, ROSSON, MARS or
SWINDLE lines, Henry WILSON married Mary SWINDLE in Tippah county in 1860
the family lived in a location that later was to become Alcorn county.
Henry had Nancy J, Mahaly J, Moses, Sarah A, Charlotte and Laney from a
previous marriage to Nancy Ann Ragsdale. He and Mary had Joe, Launa, Lidia,
Emily and William A. with Mary Swindle. Henry's father was Moses WILSON.
Both Henry and Mary were born in Tennessee.
Henry ROSSON was born in Tippah county abt 1860 to Mary ROSSON, He
married Mary MARS abt 1880 in Alcorn county. They had Mamie, Joe, Bunyon,
Maggie, Henry, Curtis, and Lillie. I know very little about the ROSSON
and MARS families. Descendants of all 4 families moved to the Northeast
portion of Texas or the Southeast portion of Oklahoma.
