My great grandmother, Emmaline Patsy LATTIN was supposedly born in Ripley about 1844-46. Her Father, Andrew killed her mother Liza when Emmaline was very young (5 or 6??). Emmaline was taken by her grandmother. What happened to Andrew LATTIN.

Martin S. and Eliza McKinley LEDBETTER had ten children. They both died in TN and two of the children went to live with relatives in Tippah Co. William H. b 1842, went to live with James Madison and Margaret Ledbetter, and Martin S.,Jr. went to live with Winniford Jones. What happened to these two boys? While in Ripley, we were told that they both died young. Are they buried in Tippah Co.? Are there any guardianship records for these two? Also, Dr. William Ledbetter, their grandfather lived in Tippah and died Sept 27, 1840. Is there any record of him? Thanks for any and all help.

I need information on William Ledbetter and his son, Martin S. Ledbetter. William lived in Bedford Co.,TN and bought land in Tippah Co. He left his wife, Anna in TN. Did he remarry? Son Martin, came to MS and married there, surely around Tippah Co. I cannot find out who he married. Two of his siblings lived in Tippah Co.,around 1850. They were Madison Ledbetter and wife Margaret and Winifred Ledbetter Jones, wife of Wiley Jones. It is told that Martin and two of his boys started out for TX and on the way there, Martin died. Shortly after Martin's death, his wife died. One son, Martin S. Ledbetter, age 4, went to live with his aunt Winifred Jones and the other son, William H. Ledbetter, 8, went to live with his uncle, Madison Ledbetter. I have no idea what happened to the other children, except for my great grandfather, Jesse Mercer Ledbetter, who stayed in Bedford Co.,TN and lived with his namesake and uncle, Jesse Mercer Ledbetter. I would really appreciate some help with the wife of Martin S. Ledbetter and also the other children who were orphaned. Martin was born about 1816 in Pendleton District, SC, and was the son of William and Anna Stanley Ledbetter. Thanks, Darla.

Seeking information on JOHN JOBE LINDSEY. Possibly lived in Tippah Co.MS 1881-1882. Married a MARGARET P. SMITH . They had one son named LEONARD LAWRENCE LINDSEY born 1882 in Mississippi. JOHN JOBE LINDSEY left MARGARET before son was born. Could have possibly re-married someone else, early in life. He was supposed to have been only about 17 years old when his son was born. Found the following two deaths: Joseph SMART b 7-2-1791 d 11-9-1852 bur Paul's Chapel, Auda A SMART b 7-4-1899 d 4-20-1900 bur Paul's Chapel. Auda was son of WC and AF SMART.
