is on the 1840 Tippah County census and owned land near where the Lowry
Methodist Church is located today. It is believed his brother was John
B. Lowry. Children who are known are: (1)Rachel J. born ca.1834 in Tenn.;
(2) Isabella M. born ca.1836 married a Tabor. (3)Nancy Ann born 30 Oct.1843
in Tippah County,Miss. married David Lewis 22 Feb.,1859 in Tippah County,

Cemetery. Probably married a Jane Gowdy had a son named William Gowdy (born
in South Carolina. Trying to find out about John Gowdy and his parents.
Know that John Gowdy was born in South Carolina according to the census.
I was hoping the Charleston newspapers could help. I believe John Gowdy
was born around 1781 and William Gowdy was born in 1810. It is believed
Gowdy was spelt GOUDY for one to two generations before going back to GOWDY.

died in Tippah, MS, in 1845. First listed on Tippah, MS tax lists. I suspect
that he was married to Elender JONES in Hardeman Co, TN in 1828. Elender
(Elinor) seems to have remarried to Philip M SMITH in Tippah. The 1850
Tippah, MS census shows Philip & Elinor with 3 Gunter children, Julia,
18; Stephen H, 15; abd William, 12. Julia was born in TN, Stephen and William
were born in MS. There were also 4 Smith children with them on the 1850
census. Any info would be appreciated and am willing to share.
