Mt Peryn Cemetery
The information about Mt Peryn Cemetery was submitted for
publication in Tate Trails and appeared in Vol XI, No. 3 1993, page 136. The
following note was submitted by Rebecca Haas Smith the Editor of Tate Trails at
that time.

way intended to criticize those people who worked so hard to preserve this

Mt Peryn, an abandoned cemetery, located in southeast portion
of Tate County in Section 14, Township 6, Range 5 near the Lafayette County
line, appears in both the Lafayette County cemetery book and in Footprints in
Time, Tombstone Inscriptions in Tate County by Mrs Janice Craft.
Information for the Lafayette County book was copied 26 Sept 1964. Information for the Tate County book was copied in March of 1977 by Mrs Craft and Cindy Veazey.
The following five names appear in the Lafayette County book but not in the Tate County Book.

Ellis, Sarah A., wife of Thomas S., b. 30 Jan. 1809, d. 18 Nov 1863
Additionally, Martha A. Ellis, Dau of Thomas and Sarah a. Ellis appears in the Tate County book without dates of birth and death with the notation (broken stone). According to the Lafayette County book, she was born 6/30/1835 and died 5/17/1850.
Nine names appear in the Tate County book but do not appear in the Lafayette County book.
