Local History

Local histories are vignettes which make-up larger county and state histories. Accounts of communities, neighborhoods and sections of counties are generally more richly interwoven with personal facts because they center around a smaller area; thus being more able to contain more details about the people who lived in the areas under discussion. The South has traditionally been an oral culture, therefore family lore, folktales and other such material are of the utmost importance to any student of Southern history and genealogy.

If you would like to contribute a story about a community, town, event or Scott County itself, please contact me.
