PONTOTOC COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI

The following biographical sketches of the members to Company G, 2nd Mississippi Regiment are derived from various sources.   The most useful and comprehensive is a database compiled from the military records in the Confederate Archives ("Archives") by Michael Brasher, who is compiling a history of the Second Mississippi Regiment.  I have also incorporated information from the 1860 or 1850 censuses of Pontotoc County, the muster book of Captain Hugh R. Miller ("Miller Muster"), now at the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, various letters and other documents from the Hugh R. Miller family letters (some of whom are now at the MDAH and others of which remain in the author's possession), the battle information from the muster roll prepared by Captain R. A. Nealy ("Nealy Muster") in February 1865 (copied from the original at the MDAH) and from various Pontotoc County histories.
