Ella Turner Carroll (Mrs.
Jim Isaiah Carroll), my
grandmother, went to Philadelphia
with her sister Mary Jane at some time in the 1930's to claim her birthright
and, according to my mother,
"received enough money to
buy herself a winter coat." That's all I know,
except that it was "common
knowledge" that Ella's mother was from a
Mississippi tribe. |
