I Uriah Conner of the County of Winston and State of Mississippi being of
sound and disposing mind and memory and understanding, do make and publish this
my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills by
me at any time heretofore made and,
And first I direct that my body shall be decently interred according to the
form of the Christian ritual at the discretion and under the Superintendance
(sic) of my beloved wife and children; And as to such worldly Estate as it has
pleased God to entrust me with I dispose of the same as follows.
First I direct that all my debts and funeral Expenses be paid as soon as
possible after my death, out of the first moneys that shall come into the hands
of my Executors arising from debts due me & to be collected and from the
proceeds of my farm if necessary.
Second I give and bequeath unto my daughter Eliza W. Kilpatrick a Negro Girl
named Elizabeth and her isue (sic) and increase to have and to hold the said
negro Girl Elizabeth and her future issue and increase unto the said Eliza W.
Kilpatrick, her heirs Executors and administrators forever.
Third. - I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary N. Hull a Negro girl name
Rachel and her issue and increase to have and to hold the said negro girl
Rachel and her future issue and increase unto the said Mary W. Hull her heirs
Executors and administrators forever.
Fourth. - I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth C. Humphries a
negro girl a slave name Linda and her issue and increase to have and to hold
the said negro girl Linda and her future issue and increase unto the said
Elizabeth C. Humphries her heirs Executors and administrators forever.
Fifth. - I give and bequeath unto my daughter Juliet Casandred Conner two
negro girls viz. Nance & Harriet, and their issue and increase to have and
to hold the said negroes Nance and Harriet and their future issue and increase
unto the said Juliet Casandred Conner her heirs Executors and administrators
forever.
Sixth. - I give and bequeath unto my son Boley J. Conner a negro man Elick a
slave to have and to hold the said negro Elick unto the aforesaid Boley J.
Conner his heirs Executors and administrators for Ever.
Seventh. - I give and bequeath to my son Uriah M. Conner, Junior two negroes
viz., one negro man name Morris and a girl name Lizer unto the aforesaid Uriah
M. Conner his heirs Executors and administrators for Ever.
Eight. - I give and bequeath unto my son John L. Conner two negroes viz.,
one negro man name George and a Girl name Diner, unt (sic) the said John L.
Conner his heirs, Executors and administrators forever.
Nineth (sic). - I give and bequeath unto my son Gabril R. Conner three
Negroes, viz., a negro Girl Clarissa and her issue and a Negro boy name Bill,
also another negro boy, name Stuart, unto the said Gabril R. Conner his heirs
Executors and administrators for Ever.
Tenth. - I give and bequeath unto my wife Rebecca Conner two negro women
viz., one name Celia the other name Liza doss, and their issue to have and to
hold her natural lifetim (sic) and at her decease they are considered dilivered
(sic) to Gabril R. Conner my son his heirs, Executors and administrators
forever.
And I do hereby make ordain constitute and appoint my wife Rebecca Conner
Executrix and David R. Hull Executor of this my last will and testament hereby
revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made and do declare this
to be my last will and testament and I do hereby also declare that all
interline actions in this will were known and approved by me before the signing
of the same.
In testimony whereof I the said Uriah Conner have to this my last will and
testament consisting of one sheet of paper set my hand and seal this the Eight
day of November in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and forty
nine.
