The first
white settlement in Tishomingo County was Troy on the Old
Reynoldsburg Road near the Tuscumbia River. As the settlement grew,
the name was changed to Danville. Early settlers were Brody’s,
Liddens, Mitchells, Fowlers, A.B. Dilworth and others. Mr. Dilworth
was the secretary of the state, 1855-1860.
Federal
troops destroyed this settlement during the Civil War.
