Golden Road District Proposal 1917

STATE OF MISSISSIPPI
TISHOMINGO COUNTY
To the Honorable Board of Supervisors of
said County:
We the undersigned road commissioners of
the Golden Road District beg leave to report that we held a
meeting in the office of T. A. Clark, attorney for said road
commissioners on the 20th day of June, 1917, and after careful
deliberation we decided to recommend to you for your approval
the construction of a road in said road district as
follows: Beginning on or near where the Pikeville and Iuka
public road intersect the line between the north half and south
half of section one township seven, range ten, and follow said
road as much as practicable in a southerly direction in and
through the town of Golden, and from said town of Golden into
said public road and follow said road as much as practicable to
the Alabama State Line.
We believe that said road is a practicable
route and that it will be a convenience to the traveling public
and therefore ask that you approve the action of said
commissioners in determining and fixing said road to be
constructed out of the proceeds of the bond sale.

P R O P O S A L
I, the undersigned, have carefully read
the specifications profile, map, drawings, and plans and
specifications on file in the office of the Clerk of the Board
of Supervisors and will do and perform the work furnish the
labor and slips to be furnished by those using teams in the work
for the construction of the Road leading from Golden in a
southwesterly direction to where the same intersects the
Iuka-Eastport Fulton Road to do and perform all the work
incident to building of the road according to plans and
specifications on file in the office of the Board of Supervisors
of said County at actual costs plus 15% and the commissioners of
the Golden Road District together with the undersigned shall
agree on price of labor.
A certified check for the sum of $100.00,
accompanies this proposal and is forfeited to the Commissioners
of the Golden Road District of said County should the
undersigned fail within 20 days from the acceptance of this
contract to enter into a contract for the construction of said
roads.
I will begin said work about the 15th of
July 1918 and will complete the same by 1st of November 1918.

To the Honorable Board of Supervisors of
said County,
We, the undersigned commissioners of the
Golden Road District beg leave to report that on the 1st day of
July 1918 within legal hours at the courthouse in the town of
Iuka, Miss., accepted the proposal of W. R. Creel for the
construction of a road leading in a southwesterly direction from
Golden to where the same intersects the Eastport and Fulton
public road and the said W. R. Creel is to have twenty days from
the acceptance of said proposal to enter into a contract for the
construction of said road according to plans and specifications
on file in the office of the Chancery Clerk of said County.
Your commissioners would further show that
publication was made for the letting of said contract in the
Vidette, a newspaper published in said County and having a
general circulation therein, said publication having been made
in said Vidette on the 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th of June 1918.
We there, petition your honorable body to
ratify and approve the action of the said commissioners in the
acceptance of the proposal of the said W. R. Creel.
