Jennie Rea Campbell married Robert Joseph Seiver in (we think) Noxubee Co.
Jennie was born in 1867 in Hardin Co. TN. Robert Joseph was born in 1862
in Hardin Co. TN. They had 2 children born probably near Macon: Robert J.
born abt 1896 and John Rea born about 1897. Jennie had a sister Knight(Kenghter)
born about 1874 in Hardin Co. TN, she married a DILWORTH and had a dau.
Jennie Rea Dilworth. This family was possibly living near Jennie and Robert.
This is all I know of this family, and sure would like to find some descendants.

Fason Nov. 4th, 1890 in Webster Co. Mississippi. They had two sons, and

NEVES
Seeking to correspond with any descendants of William M. NEVES who moved
to Noxubee Co. from north Alabama between 1860 and 1870. He and many of
his descendants are apparently buried in Deerbrook Cemetery. His wife was
Elvira Elizabeth Cole. Among his children were: Mary A. Neves (Gavin), William

LONG, WEIR
My father passed away in Los Angeles in 1986. He was born in Noxubee County
in November of 1904. He was African-American. His name was Will. His dad's
name was Nick Wier (or Weir). My dad took the name of the persons that actually
reared him, Long. Nick's wife, my grand mother was named Carrie. Her maiden
name was Bell. She allowed some of her relatives, the Longs, to raise my
dad. It seemed that Nick was somewhat of a "bad actor" and the
two of them did not get along very well. So, her uncles (I believe) Rob
and Bob Long took my dad in. Hester Long (Rob's wife) was for all intents
and purposes, my father's "mother." Could you assist me in getting
some more information on my dad's family? At least perhaps directing me

ELI DETHROW/DOTHERO was born in 1828 and was raised around Brooksville MS
by a DOCTOR. He appears in the 1850 N. Yalobusha CO MS census records. Does

HOLMES
I am researching Robert and Elvira HOLMES of Noxubee County. Robert died
before 1871. They had four children Louis or Lewis, William, Andrew, and
a daughter I think whose name was Jane. This information was taken from
the "Registers of Signatures of Depositors in Branches of the Freeman's
Saving & Trust Company 1865-1874". According to the record Louis Holmes
completed the form in Mobile, AL. It states that he was born in Noxubee
County and and brought up in Eutaw, AL, Greene County. The death certificate
for Louis' son Frank states that Louis Frances HOLMES was born in Shuqualak,

PEARSON, TROTMAN
Richard M. Pearson and Elizabeth Trotman Pearson. The above is believed
to have lived in Noxubee County from 1843-1850. He may have been a soldier.
She was probably the daughter of Thomas and Artimissia Trotman who also
lived in Noxubee County. They had 3 children born while living there: S.
M. Pearson about 1843, Samuel James Pearson July 21, 1846 and Caroline H.

RUSSELL
We are Looking for information on Ira Arnold Russell and John Oliver Russell
who Served with the Noxubee Rifles company F 11th Mississippi Volunteer
during the Civil War. John Oliver Russell was born in noxubee co. on 10
november 1841. His parents are Perry Grant Russell and Martha Taylor. He
stay in Noxubee county until 1868-1869. Our family legend has it that there
were 11 sons 10 of which were old enough to fight in the civil war. all
ten went to war and all ten returned home. It is also believed we came from

SUDBURY
Hello, I just recently discovered my ties to Noxubee County. I believe this
couple to be my great great uncle and aunt. I would appreciate any information
that anyone on the list could give. James Madison (Jim) Sudbury and Elizabeth
Ann (Lizzie) Shields Sudbury moved to Texas in 1884 from Noxubee County.
Jim was born in Macon, MS, on November 10, 1838, and Lizzie was born in
Shuqualak, MS, on July 30, 1850. They were married in 1866. Jim Sudbury
had been married previously and had a daughter, Willie Anna. His wife had
died during the Civil War. Willie Anna married and did not come to Texas
with the rest of the family. Does anyone know of a Willie Anna Sudbury and
who she might have married? I have no other information on her. Lizzie and
Jim had one child, Martha O'Ella (Ola) Sudbury born March 7, 1869 in Hattiesburg,
MS. I don't know the conditions of how they got from Noxubee to Hattiesburg
(a distance of about 80 miles), only that she was born there. The family
first settled near Hearne, Texas. Before 1888 Jim and Lizzie "adopted"
three children from a lady who was dying. They were Nathan Erwin Pierce
Sweatt, b. December 9, 1878; Millard Sweatt, born October 13, 1880; and
Sarah Virgie Lou Sweatt, born October 5, 1882. In 1888, the family moved
from Hearne to Mason County where Jim's brother, Columbus Woodson Sudbury,
lived. (I believe this Columbus Woodson Sudbury to be my ggrandfather, although
because of date inconsistencies, he could be my gggrandfather). Ola was
a teacher, she replaced her aunt when her aunt died. Family history also
tells that Jim Sudbury served in the Confederate army. I would appreciate
any help that list members can give me, at the present moment, this is virtually
all I know of the Sudburys, except that a Columbus Woodson (whom perhaps
is either Jim's brother or perhaps his nephew), was my ggrandfather who
fathered Vadis Velma, Tyrus, Lizzie (perhaps she was named after her aunt?),
and was married to a Mary Wilkins(?), whom we believe was born in Texas.
My grandmother, Vadis Velma, was born in August, 1898, in Texas. She married
Robert Newton Sanders sometime before 1918. Excuse the length I am just

Minerva LYON 1812-ca1865, widow of Robert S. LYON of Oktibbeha Co. was in
Noxubee Co. 1860 census. Children of LYON were James A. b. 1833; Sarah Frances

R. 1840-aft.1886. Also by Thomas MIZZLE, Minerva had Minerva Lou 1848-1937;

I am doing Moorehead history and their is a family disagreement over how
it is spelled. We were told that Our line of Moorhead/Mooreheads came to
Texas in the early 1800's from the Brooksville Mississippi area. I have

I am seeking info on the STALLINGS/HOPKINS AND MOORE families who may have
lived in Noxubee Co at one time. My gggrandfather Nathaniel (Nathan) was
sold to a MS slave owner. Nathaniel married Betty Moore and their children
included my ggrandfather, Lacy. Lacy married Lucy Moore and their children
included my grandfather, William who was born in Crawford April 10, l893
or l897. William married Johnnie Hopkins. Johnnie was born in Crawford on
Oct. 3, l891 and her parents were John and Ella Hopkins. I'm interested
in learning about Lacy, Nathaniel, Nathaniel's owner and birth and death
dates. The l890 Noxubee County slave schedules lists D. W. Stallings as
owning 9 slaves. He may be the one who purchased Nathaniel at the age of
13-15. Would also like any info on the Hopkins and Moore families, the Moore
women were supposedly part Indian, what tribe, I don't know. Thanks for

By 1860 he owned nearly 2 sections. Ltrs Adm filed 22 Sept. 1865 by sons

Frederick Hudson, b. 1828, Ga., married 1851, Nox. Co. Ms., Lousianna
Elliot. His siblings: William W. Bird, John W. Bird, Mary Lee Bird, and
Elizabeth P. Bird. All are children of William Byrd/Bird and Mary Hudson,
dau. of Frederick Hudson and his wife, Lucy Greer. The mother
was dead by 1848 when the father, William Bird, went to court for guardianship
of his own children. They are listed in the 1850 Nox. Co. census, but not
the 1860??? Where did this/these families go? William W. Bird married in
1851, Martha Means, who was listed in the same household in 1850, under
Billy Bird. Mary Hudson Bird was the daughter of Frederick Hudson
and Lucty Greer, she was sister to my g-g-grandfather, John Hudson, who

HUNTER
When we were in Nuxobee Co. a few years ago, we discovered an
area of the county called HORSE HUNTER PRAIRIE and a creek called HORSE
HUNTER CREEK. HARDY "HORSE" HUNTER was my gggrandfather. We know
that he owned 80 acres prior to 1830 and that by 1831 he was in Arkansas.
He married a daughter of Benjamin Clark, Sr. and one of his daughters married
my ggrandfather JAMES REASON WEATHERS. Is there anybody (perhaps a descendant)
who could help us put some meat and blood on the bones of statistics? The
stats were not too hard to locate, but finding something to tell us what
kind of a person he was, etc. has slammed us against a stone wall.

1838-1840 - Joseph Koger - Direct Index to Deeds, Book
B, pages 138 & 139, Conveyance, from Massachusetts & Alabama Land
Company. Would like to know connection of Joseph Koger, land agent,
to Joel Pinson, attorney in Pontotoc County, who was administrator for estates
of John Stephens, Jr., d 1844, and John Richard Senior, d
1849. Records show that Joel Pinson sent John Smith to see
Mary Brown (granddaughter of John, Sr., daughter of David Brown,
a surveyor in Texas), and Koger in Noxubee. This was one day prior to John
Smith's going on into Texas to pay taxes on 3 leagues of Stephens land.
This was in March 1849. Did the Massachusetts & Alabama Land Company
also have offices in Benton County, Ala and in Laurens, S.CIndications are
that it did! With whom did they deal in those states, and also in Texas?

Joseph Koger moved to MS from SC in 1838. He was later elected to
the MS Senate. He had a number of children and I am trying to find out what
became of them, along with the story of Joe's 28 years in MS.
LONGSTREET, DENT
James Longstreet and his wife Mary Anne Dent, had eleven children. After
James' death in 1833, Mary Anne and the children moved to Macon, MS and
lived there the rest of their lives. Would anybody with information about
