Services for Joe A. Rawson will be held today at 3:30 p.m. at Russell Baptist Church with the Revs. Keith Thrash, Clay Chancelor, David Holifield, Wilton Bennett and Jewell Greer officiating. Burial will be in Old Marion Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. 

Mr. Rawson, 60, of Russell, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, in his home. He was a member of Russell Baptist Church and a veteran. 

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Butler Rawson of Russell; a son, Paul G. Rawson and his wife, Barbie, of Meridian; daughters, Leigh Anne R. Masters and her husband, Wayne, of Anderson, Ind.; and Kellie R. McMullen and her husband, Marty, of Meridian; mother, Orina H. Rawson, sisters, Kay R. Stegall and Jean R. Pippin, a grandson, Blake McMullen and a granddaughter, Lexie Rawson, all of Meridian. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest V. Rawson. 

The family requests memorials be made to Gideon's International. 

Pallbearers will be Terry Powell, Bobby McElroy, Don Cagle, Butch Harper, Glenn McInnis, Jimmy Harper, Bobby Pugh and John Harper. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men I Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Doggett, 88, of Butler, died Friday, April 5, 2002, in Butler. 

Survivors include a daughter, Dianne D. Hollister of Butler; a brother, A. J. Allen and sisters, Maggie Pearl Cheault and Annie Laura Sims, all of Meridian, Miss.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Little, 80, of DeKalb, died Saturday, April 6, 2002, in DeKalb. She was a member of the DeKalb United Methodist Church. 

Survivors include a grandson, Thomas L. Stennis III and a granddaughter, Pamela Stennis, both of Gulbport; a sister, Kanova Creekmore and her husband, Champ, of Preston; and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Little and her daughter, Patsy Little Stennis.

JACKSON -- Services for Mahlon B. Swogetinsky will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park. 

Mr. Swogetinsky, 71, of Clinton, died Saturday, April 6, 2002, at his home. He was a native of Sugarland, Texas and a resident of Clinton. He was a graduate of Baylor University and a retired account executive with Dresser Industries where he worked for more than thirty years. 

Mr. Swogetinsky was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and mission coordinator. He was an avid tree farmer and reader who enjoyed history and the Bible. He was involved in real estate and was a devoted family man. 

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Stewart of Clinton; a son, Steve Swogetinsky and his wife, Denise, of Quitman; a daughter, Mary Lou Nail and her husband, W.L. "Bud," of Picayune; sisters Patsy Swogetinsky and Betty Ann Schalz, both of Katy, Texas; Kitty Millard of Houston; Dottie Collins of El Campo, Texas; and Carolyn Roorda of Lake Jackson, Texas. 

Visitation will be today from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the funeral home and after 10 a.m. on Monday.

Mrs. Kelley, 75, of Philadelphia, died Friday, April 5, 2002, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. 

Survivors include three brothers, Jessie Lee Spears of Ethel; Johnnie S. Spears of Philadelphia; and James Thomas Spears of Hattiesburg; and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert V. Kelley.

STARKVILLE -- Services for Dewey R. Carmichael will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Starkville with the Rev. Bob McDonald officiating. There will be graveside services at 4 p.m. at Memorial Cemetery in Meridian. Welch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

Mr. Carmichael, 72, of Starkville, died Saturday, April 6, 2002, at Oktibbeha County Hospital. He attended Meridian Junior College, the University of Southern Mississippi and served more than 12 years in the Marine Corps. He was called to active duty in 1950 during the Korean Conflict. 

Mr. Carmichael was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, the 3rd Marine Division Association, a master Mason and a past Master of Museum Lodge No. 636 in Jackson. He was also a past Master of the Meridian Lodge 308 and was a member of the York Rite Bodies and Hamassa Shrine Temple. He was also a past director of the Clown Unit, a life member of the Meridian Scottish Rite Bodies and a patron of the Meridian Chapter 11 Order of the Eastern Star. 

Survivors include his wife, Virginia W. Carmichael of Starkville; daughters, Kimberly J. Carmichael of Atlanta, Ga.; and Lisa C. Sellars of Starkville; a sister, Chris C. Harmon of Columbus; and three grandchildren. 

The family requests memorials be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church building fund. 

Visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Killen, 63, of Philadelphia, died Saturday, April 6, 2002, at his home. He was a native of the House community of Neshoba County and a retired machinist. He worked for several years at U.S. Motors of Philadelphia and Milwaukee Tool in Jackson. 

Mr. Killen worked for the past five years as a security guard with Goss Security in Jackson and was a member of the East Philadelphia Baptist Church and the United States Trotting Association. 

Survivors include two daughters, Robin Hooper of Philadelphia; and Dana Gray of Ridgeland; a son, Buddy Killen of Philadelphia; sisters, Jewel Warren and Hazel Gray, both of Philadelphia; and Bonnie McMullan of Clear Spring, Md.; brothers, Edward Killen of Moss Point; and Seibert, Sennett and Willis Killen, all of Philadelphia; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Waterman, 41, of Evansville, Ind., died Friday, April 5, 2002, at his home in Meridian. He was active in the U.S. Navy for 22 years, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He received an associate's degree from East Mississippi Community College and was working on his bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland. 

Survivors include his wife, April Rust Waterman of NAS Meridian; four children, Patrick Waterman, Katie Waterman, Lauren Waterman and Ryan Clevidance; a mother, Rose Waterman, a brother David Waterman, and sisters, Kim Taylor and Laurie Nelson, all of Evansville, Ind. and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Waterman.

Mrs. Autry, 36, of Meridian, died Sunday, April 7, 2002, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center. She was a graduate of Meridian High School, attended Mississippi State University and graduated from the University of Mississippi Medical Center with a degree in physical therapy. Mrs. Autry was the director of Outpatient Physical Therapy at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a life-time member of First Christian Church. 
 

Survivors include her husband, James William "Bill" Autry; her mother, Donna Kerby McDonald; her grandmother, Marcella Kerby; her grandfather, Reginald McDonald Sr.; her sister, Karrie Goodman and her husband, Billy; a brother, Kerby McDonald and his wife, Jennifer; her nieces and nephew, Alyssa and Cassie Goodman and Sam McDonald. Other family members include Karen and Lee Meyer Jr., Adam and Melissa Davis and Lea and Thomas McCracken. 
 

She is also survived by her husband's family: his parents, Sylvia and Jimmy Autry; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C.A. "Skeeter" Lang; a brother, Andy Autry; a sister, Katie Autry; a brother, Paul Autry and his wife, Michelle, and their children, Dustin, Seth and Sally Ann. Of special survival note are her beloved god-children and her dogs, Daisy and Max. 
 

She was preceded in death by her father, Reginald McDonald Jr.; her grandfather, Conan Kerby; and her grandmother, Mary Lee McDonald.

Mr. Thomas, 70, of Decatur, died Monday, April 8, 2002, in his home. He was born in Montgomery County, N.C. His mother died when he was 2-years-old, and he and his four brothers were raised in the Masonic Orphanage in Oxford, N.C. He father was killed in an accident before he was born. 
 

Mr. Thomas was a 32nd degree Mason who achieved York and Scottish Rites and was a member of Evergreen Lodge #77. 
 

He was a chaplain for Newton County Camp Gideon's International and did jail ministry. He was an active member of Decatur United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the New Beginnings Sunday School class and the choir. He was also a member of United Methodist Men's Organization. 
 

For the last five years he devoted every Monday morning to delivering prior Sunday church services on cassette tapes to shut-ins. He was also a member of the Mississippi Methodist Cursillo and the Senior Singers at Clarke Venable Baptist Church. 
 

Mr. Thomas served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of National Rifleman's Association and Mississippi Bowhunters Association and inducted into the Mississippi Bowhunters Hall of Fame. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and an avid gardener. 
 

Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances McNair Thomas, a daughter, Frances Dawn Thomas, a son, Olin Carson Thomas and his wife, Janet, and a granddaughter, Mary Lois Thomas, all of Decatur; grandsons, Benjamin Carson Thomas of Shreveport, La., Olin Gary Thomas, Daniel Lacy Thomas and David Ernest Thomas, all of Decatur; brothers, Cecil Thomas of Virginia Beach, Va., and Royce Thomas of Winterpark, Fla.

Mrs. Williams, 68, of Newton, died Thursday, April 11, 2002, at Rush Foundation Hospital. She was born in Newton and was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. 
 

Survivors include three sons, Bob Williams and his wife, Rhonda, Terry Williams and his wife, Dana and Keith Williams and his wife, Denise; and a daughter, Linda Maske and her husband, Steve, all of Newton; eight grandchildren, Michele Newell, Jason Williams, Ashley Williams, Nickki Rabon, John Young, Kelli Young, Cody Maske and Brad Newell; and a great-grandchild, Brandon Young.

Mr. Alawine, 85, of Meridian, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Specialty Hospital of Meridian. A Methodist, he was a graduate of George Washington University. He held a Doctor of Law degree and was retired from the Internal Revenue Service after 35 years. 
 

Survivors include his wife, Margie Alawine of Meridian; a son, David Alawine of Spotsylvania, Va.; a step son, Kenneth Lee and his wife, Josie, of Vicksburg; two daughters, Deborah Hahn of Richmond, Va., and Sheila Hutchens of Alexandria, Va.; a step daughter, Diane Forbes and her husband, Frank, of Sherwood, Ark.; 25 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Will Alawine and his wife, Barbara, of Vernon, Ala.; two sisters, Kate Alawine and Ellen Stephens and her husband, the Rev. Carl Stephens all of Collinsville; and former step children, Blaine Toney of Spotsylvania, Terry Toney of Clear Creek, W.V., and Donna Smith of Dale City, Va. 
 

He was preceded in death by three sons, Russell Alawine, Alton Alawine Jr., and an infant son; and a brother, J.T. Alawine.

Mrs. DuBose, 74, of Meridian, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at her home. 
 

Survivors include her husband, Walter F. DuBose of Meridian; four daughters, Dolores Willis, Norma Robertson and Tracy Reives, all of Meridian and Paula DuBois of Bermuda; two sons, Woodrow Johnson of Meridian and Keith DuBois of Bermuda; two sisters, Eloise Slaughter of Selma, Ala., and Ersadean Griffin of Clarksville, Tenn.; a brother, Georgio Wilson of Selma; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. 
 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Vera Elizabeth "Betty" Emerson died Monday, April 9, 2002, in Meridian. Mrs. Emerson was a native of Meridian and a graduate of Meridian High School. 
 

She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Emerson; her parents, John J. and Vera Beddingfield; and a sister, Gayle Sims. 
 

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Judi Emerson of Pass Christian; grandchildren, Dr. Noah A. Emerson and Gia DeLeo of Chicago, John Conrad Emerson and Daryl Ashlan Emerson of Pass Christian and Jonathan Harris Emerson of New Orleans; niece and nephew, Dr. J.J. Beddingfield III and Catherine Beddingfield of Jackson, Genie and Don Smoak of Covington, La., Susan Sims of Meridian and Tracey and Tim Sims of Jackson; brother and sister-in-law, J.J. Beddingfield Jr. and Tommie Beddingfield of Meridian; and a dear friend and cousin, Thelma Buie of Meridian.
