MACON -- Services for Louise Daniel Hayes were to be held today at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Macon with the Revs. Allen Mapp and Raggy Ragsdale officiating. Burial was to be in Shuqualak Cemetery with Cockrell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. 
 

Mrs. Hayes, 76, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. 
 

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce H. Walker of Macon and Eileen M. Hayes of Starkville; a son, Jerry Hayes of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; a sister, Jeanette Mapp of Macon; two brothers, Robert Daniel of Tupelo and Charles Daniel of Seneca, S.C.; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 
 

She was preceded in death by a son, John E. Hayes. 
 

The family requests memorials be made to Vista J. Daniel Memorial Library (Shuqualak) or the Palmer Home for Children.

Services for Lindsey Smith will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Carl Sellers and Jim Snowden officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Nebo Church Cemetery. 
 

Mr. Smith, 81, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at Guardian Angel Hospice. He was a veteran of World War II. 
 

Survivors include his wife, Grace Farmer Smith and a son, Jerry Smith and his wife, Joni, all of Meridian; a daughter, Sheila McLaughlin and her husband, Doug, of Pass Christian; a sister, Betty Fredorak of Crestview, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. 
 

He was preceded in death by a son, Lindsey Gerald Smith; parents, Sebastian and Elizabeth Smith; sisters, Ruthie Goforth, Alice Knight and Sally Hitt. 
 

The family requests memorials be made to Mt. Nebo Cemetery Association, 133 George Rd., Collinsville, MS 39325.

Mr. Baucum, 58, of Newton, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at Magnolia South in Union. 
 

Survivors include four brothers, Johnny Baucum and his wife, Eleanor, and James Baucum and his wife, Lela, all of Newton, Lester Baucum and his wife, Eugenia, of Wiggins, and Hilton Baucum and his wife, Janet, of Hattiesburg; six nephews and six nieces. 
 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Mattie Ritchie Baucum; a sister, Olivia Parks; and a brother, Billy Wayne Baucum Sr. 
 

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Mann, Jimmy Mason, Jamie Baucum, Ty Baucum, Lance Baucum and Johnny Baucum Jr.

Miss Mathis, 84, of Oxford, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at Graceland Care Center. She taught 46 years at Meridian Community College and two years at Brookhaven. Miss Mathis was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Meridian. 
 

Survivors include a sister, Sue Mathis Sneed of Oxford; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. 
 

The family requests memorials be made to a favorite charity. 
 

Visitation will be Thursday one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.

She was preceded in death by her husband, O.V. Trapp.

Mr. Tilghman, 78, of Mandeville, La., formerly of Madison, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington. He was a native of Meridian, Miss., and a resident of Mandeville for the past five years. 
 

Survivors include his wife, Frances Fulcher Tilghman; children, L. Stephens "Steve" Tilghman of Birmingham, Ala., Jan Risher of Atlanta and Robert Tilghman of Mandeville; a sister, Frances Kimbraugh of Jackson; and six grandchildren.

Mr. Parker, 86, of Purvis, died Tuesday,Jan. 15, 2002, at Forrest General Hospital. He served in World War II and Korea.

Mr. Lewis, 78, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, in his home. He was a retired lieutenant commander and pilot in the U.S. Navy. He served 27 years. Mr. Lewis was a member of St. Johns Lodge, a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and York Rite Mason. 
 

Survivors include his wife, Sunny Alice E. Lewis of Meridian; two daughters, Charlotte Elliott of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jane Lodge Hopkins of San Francisco; and a grandchild, Luther H. Elliott IV of Jacksonville.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Maggard was a member of Riverside Baptist Church in Pass Christian where he served as a deacon and Lyman Senior Citizen Center.

Miss McClelland, 18, of Meridian, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at her home. She was born May 2, 1983, to Felicia McClelland and Johnny Smith here in Meridian. She attended schools in the Meridian Public School District and was a senior at Meridian High School when her "sweet spirit" finished its course on Jan. 14, 2002. She had been a member of the ROTC and enjoyed attending and working at the Boys and Girls Club. She had received a scholarship in mortuary science and planned to attend East Mississippi Community College and become a mortician.

HERBERT WAYNE RULEAU 
 

Herbert Wayne Ruleau of Collinsville died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at Heartfelt Hospice in Meridian. He was 69-years-old. 
 

"Herbie" was born at Pine Ridge, S.D., where he attended an Indian boarding school. He then graduated from Gordon High School in Gordon, Neb. and afterwards joined the U.S. Marine Corps. While in the Marines, Mr. Ruleau fought in the Korean War and Vietnam War and earned numerous medals, including a Purple Heart. After retiring from the Marines, he worked as a police officer in Clarksdale and then as a federal probation officer at Pine Ridge. He went on to graduate from Delta State University and worked as a juvenile probation officer and counselor in Clarksdale. Mr. Ruleau also worked as a police lieutenant in Southaven. He received a degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from Mississippi State University in 1984 and went to work for the Wyoming Division of Vocational Rehabilitation in Sheridan, Wy. He was then employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Pine Ridge as a mental health counselor, a dormitory supervisor and counselor at Pine Ridge School and as a vocational rehabilitation counselor. 
 

Mr. Ruleau belonged to several organizations, including the Marine Corps Association, Fleet Reserve Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion Association and the Mississippi Association of 1st Marine Division. He was also a former member of the American Legion. 
 

Mr. Ruleau is survived by his wife, Debra, of Collinsville, three sons, Dale Ruleau and his wife, Karla, of Rushville, Neb., Bruce Ruleau of Cuba, N.M., and Jon Ruleau of Falmouth, Mich.; five grandchildren, Kyla Vincent and her husband, Clint, of Rushville, Karac Ruleau of Columbus, Ohio, Kalli Ruleau of Lincoln, Neb., Jessica Geiman of Tulsa, Okla., and Nikki Washowicz of Watervliet, Mich; a great-grandson, Kendrick Vincent of Rushville; five sisters, Bette Trombley of Rushville, Laurine Ruleau of Albuquerque, N.M., Phyllis Ruleau and her husband, Frank Walker, of Yakima, Wash., Nancy Stults and her husband, Jim, of Blairstown, Iowa, Ivis Molander and her husband, Ronald, of Cornville, Ariz.; a brother, Donald and his wife, Betty, of Chadron, Neb.; and a brother-in-law, Hank Scherbarth of Hay Springs, Neb.

Mrs. Dukes, 79, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at Riley Hospital. She was a member of Cokers Chapel Methodist Church and past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. 
 

Survivors include three daughters, Chrell Johnson of Pasadena, Texas, Toni White of Puckett and Tracey Alday of Meridian; a son, Brad Dukes of Suqualena; sisters, Ruby Edney of Vinville, Freta Knight of Memphis, Tenn., Marie Carlile of Vinville and Snookie Richards of Atlanta; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. 
 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Ina Mae Maggard; her husband, Henry Alvo Dukes; a daughter, Sarnda Dukes; two grandchildren, Trenton Gerrard Able and David Michael Hoop.

Mr. Hill, 71, of Meridian, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was a native of Washington County and a member of the Church of Christ. A graduate of Artesia High School, he served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Kansas City Southern Railroad after 40 years of service. He was a member of the United Transportation Union. He enjoyed hunting with his grandchildren. 
 

Survivors include his wife, Dovie E. Hill of Meridian; two daughters, Lisa H. Moore of Macon and Sheri A. Hill of Meridian; a son, Cecil O. Hill of Macon; six grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Wright of Mobile, Ala., and Evelyn McArthur of Macon; two brothers, Carey Hill of Yazoo City and George L. Hill of Meridian. 
 

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Bennie F. Hill, Joe Hill and Randolph Hill.

WAYNE THOMAS BAILEY 
 

Memorial services for Retired Lt. Col. Wayne Thomas "Bugar" Bailey will be held Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church at 7 p.m. 
 

A native of Meridian, Mr. Bailey died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, and was buried in Colorado Springs, Colo., where he lived. He attended St. Aloysius School, Kate Griffin Junior High School, graduating from Meridian High School, attended East Mississippi Junior College and graduated from University of Tennessee Martin. Through the Army ROTC program, he entered the U.S. Army serving for 241/2 years. His military duties took him to Germany, as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam, many bases in the United States and the Pentagon, retiring with the rank of lieutenant colonel. 
 

He was also active in Boy Scouts Troop 7 sponsored by St. Patrick Church and was an alter server for many years. 
 

Survivors include his wife, Tina Solis Bailey, son, Thomas and daughter, Michelle, all of Colorado Springs; brothers, Louis Joseph Jr. of Meridian and Charles Patrick of Gurley, Ala.; sisters, Mary Romero, of Ocean Springs; Teresa LaBiche and Kathy Powell of Meridian; five nephews, nine nieces, two great-nephews and one great niece. 
 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Joseph and Claudia Sing Bailey; two nieces, Christianne Michelle Bailey and Rose Mary LaBiche. 
 

Visitation will be held following the service in St. Patrick Parish Center.

Mrs. Hudson, 99, of Meridian, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, in Meridian. She was born in Meridian on Aug. 23, 1902. With a loving and giving heart she lived her life to the fullest. Her passion for family, friends and fishing gave her life meaning and joy to everyone around her. She will be missed by all. 
 

Survivors include six grandchildren, Nancy Ramm, Patty Phillips, Kathy Shifs, Jack Phillips, Ross Hudson and Todd Hudson; a niece, Carolyn Bishop; her lifelong friend Dorothy "Dot" Wisenor; and her loving sister-in-law, Victoria Love. 
 

She is now reunited with her children whom she loved so dearly, Undine, Bill and Edwin and her husband, Selby.
