Percy Mayberry Polk

Mr. Percy M. Polk Dies Suddenly

Percy Mayberry Polk died suddenly at the family residence in the Granby community Monday afternoon at 3:30 after having been in declining health for some time.

Funeral services were held from Antioch Baptist Church at 3 P.M. Tuesday with his pastor, Rev. T. R. Coulter, officiating. Interment was made in the church cemetery with Aultman-Saulters Funeral Home in charge.

Active pall bearers were Hubert Baker, Stanley Loftin, Frank Sinclair, Ernest Sinclair, Clyde Thurman, Goodwin Bass, Johnnie Lee and Belton Turnage. Honorary bearers were Charlie Thurman, Leland Tyrone, E. B. Mathison, Dr. J. N. Mathison, Morgan Parkman, Sam Turnage, Ad Brinson, Bill Langston, Otis Dewitt, Sam Lee, Terrell Polk, Claude Polk and V. B. Garraway.

Mr. Polk was 70 years of age and had been successfully engaged in farming all of his wife. He was the kind of farmer who believed in raising everything possible on the farm for a good living at home. He was a loyal member of Antioch Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife and two sons, Knox and Lavelle Polk; six sisters, Mrs. Silas Hamilton, Mrs. Zudie Turnage, Mrs. Lizzie Barnes, Mrs. Effie Polk, Mrs. Jack Eubanks, Mrs. Luther McNease; and one brother, Mr. Robert Polk.
