Funeral services were held Friday, October 12, 2012 at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel in Prentiss, MS for Mrs. D. Carol McRaney, age 80, of Bassfield, MS who passed away on October 9, 2012 at Covington County Nursing Center. Interment followed at Antioch Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements.

Rev. Rodney Bankens and Rev. Ken Hickman officiated. Pall bearers were Randy Polk, Dale Polk, Cecil Evans and Tommy Gatwood.

A native of Covington County, Dorothy Carol McRaney was born on July 27, 1932. She was the daughter of Charles M. Hathorn and Minnie Polk Hathorn. Mrs. McRaney worked as a Nurse Technician with the Health Department for a number of years. She was a member of New Chapel United Pentecostal Church.

Mrs. McRaney is survived by her nephew, Brad Hathorn (Beth) of Alpharetta, GA; her great nephews, Phillip & John Hathorn and great niece, Hannah Hathorn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Julian "Peck" McRaney, her son, Vic Brown and her brother.
