Wilma N. Jackson interred at Antioch! Rites at Mobile.
Funeral services were held Monday June 15, at Rodney Funeral Home Chapel in Mobile, Ala., for Miss Wilma Nell Jackson, 22, who died unexpectedly June 13 shortly after arriving at the office of a Mobile physician. The Rev. Billy Hall officiated and interment followed Monday afternoon at Antioch Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by the Rev. Allen Winstead and the Rev. Billy Therrell, with Saulters Funeral Home in charge.
Members of Sigma Nu Fraternity Chapter at the University of South Alabama served as pallbearers.
Miss Jackson was a native of Prentiss and attended school at Carson through the third grade at which time her family moved to Mobile where she attended the public schools. She recently was graduated from the University of South Alabama in Mobile with a B.S. Degree in Biological Science. She had been awarded a $4,275 fellowship by the National Library of Medicine through the University of Chicago. She had also been nominated to Outstanding Young Woman of American from the state of Alabama.
She was an ative member of Fulton Heights Methodist Church where she had served as president of the MYF. She had received a scholarship while attending the U. of S. A. and was a member of Gold Key, Senior Women's Honor Society, was a member of the Biology Club, Sweetheart of Sigma Nu Colony, second vice-president and rush chairman of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority, had served on the yearbook staff and was a student assistant in the Department of Biological Sciences.
Immediate survivors include her mother, Mrs. Nell Parkman Jackson of Mobile, and one sister, Miss Susan Jackson of Mobile.
