Nell Parkman Jackson, A native of Prentiss, MS and a resident of Mobile, AL for the past 53 years, died Friday, October 30, 2009, at her home.

Mrs. Jackson was a member of Kingswood United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Keenagers Group, the Savanna Wesley Circle, the United Methodist Women, and taught Sunday school.

She retired from Morningside Elementary School in the Mobile County Public School System after 20 years of dedicated service. Prior to teaching in Mobile, Mrs. Jackson taught in Mississippi. She was a member of the American Association of University Women and Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority.

After retirement, she volunteered her time and efforts to the American Red Cross, Knollwood Hospital, now Infirmary West, and Bellingrath Gardens. Mrs. Jackson touched and influenced many lives during her teaching and mentoring career. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A. C. Jackson, and her daughter, Wilma Nell Jackson.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan Jackson (James R.) Baker of Mobile; three grandchildren, Mary Claire Outlaw (Joseph) McNair, Matthew Morgan Outlaw, both of New Orleans, LA and Jonathan Taylor Baker of Daphne, AL; one precious great-granddaughter, Graycen Elise McNair of New Orleans, LA; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and good friends.

Funeral services will be held from Kingswood United Methodist Church on Monday, November 2, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will be in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Prentiss, MS at 3:00 p.m.
