I am new to genealogy - How do I get started?
I would suggest that you explore "Resources." In this section you will also find links to great sites for beginners. Just as important, you should post a query on the Jefferson County Query Board, and ask questions about your ancestors there. It has been my experience that the more places you ask the question, the better your chances of getting an answer.
I don't see xxx church or xxx cemetery on your list. Why Not?
If you don't see information on it, I probably don't know about it. Let me know about it by submitting your information.
How do I submit information to you?
You can type the information in an email, or attach a file (.doc, .txt, .xlsx) and send it to my email address.
Specific People or Families
I am looking for information about xxx person or xxx family - Do you have it?.
If you don't see it on the site then I don't have the information you;re looking for. You can also give additional information here, just in case you do research for your county.
Can you send me a marriage license (or birth certificate, death certificate, court document) for my ancestor?
In most cases, you will need to check with the county courthouse in order to obtain original documents. You can find contact information in "Addresses".
Can you look some information up for me?
If it's not on the site then I don't likely have the resource. Your best bet would be to post a query. There are many people subscribed and it's possible someone has that resource available.
