Oliver Perry Sexton was born in Copiah County, Mississippi in March 5 1849. He was the son of John C. and Mary E. Sexton and was a brother to Hon. John F. Sexton. He was known as a life-long planter who was very successful.
In 1873 he married Mary E. Coor, daughter of Rufus (son of D.K. Coor) and Mary Coor. Oliver and his wife had seven children: Ada, Walter, Eula, Cora, Frank. Mary K., and Nora I.
Oliver was a member of the Knights of Honor at Crystal Springs. He was known throughout the community as a worthy member of society and a highly repected citizen.
Oliver Sexton died on November 3, 1925 and is buried in the Poplar Springs Cemetery in Crystal Springs, Mississippi with his wife Mary Ann Coor Sexton.
