Mary Frances Daughtry Cheek, 79, of Hazehurst, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Hardy Wilson Hospital. Visitation will be 5pm-8pm Friday at First Baptist Church in Hazlehurst. Services will be 10am Saturday at First Baptist Church with interment in Antioch Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Services in Hazlehurst is handling arrangements.
Mrs. Cheek was a member of First Baptist Church Hazlehurst. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was past Matron.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nolan Cheek, Sr., a son, Nolan Cheek, Jr., and son-in-law, Pete De La Riva.
Survivors include: son, Jay Paul Cheek of Austin, TX; daughter, Susan Cheek De La Riva of Hazlehurst and Rhonda Cheek Madden of Wilmington, NC; brothers, Benjamin Daughtry of Hazlehurst and Ellis Bufkin of Nebraska; sister, Betsy Ann Daughtry Miller of New Jersey; grandchildren, Wendy Reed, Charles Owens, Amy Bullman, and Lucus De La Riva; and five great grandchildren.
