Sue G. Bufkin, 81, died Friday, February 4, 2005 at Pinecrest Guest Home in Hazlehurst. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. today at Stringer Family Funeral Services in Hazlehurst. Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Antioch Baptist Church with burial in Antioch Cemetery. Rev. Thomas Goza and Dr. Rory Lee will officiate.
Mrs. Bufkin was born in Jackson to A. C. and Mary Hall Gilliam. She was a beautician and had her own shop for a number of years and she was active in the Jackson Garden Club prior to moving to Memphis. The family moved to Hazlehurst in 1960 where she served as president of the Magnolia Garden Club. Mrs. Bufkin owned and operated Sue's Corner of Fashion for 19 years before retiring. She loved her home and family and enjoyed doing needlepoint and macrame' in her spare time. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bufkin is survived by her husband of 63 years, Homer L. Bufkin. Family survivors are two daughters, Amelia Bufkin and Beverly Kergosien and husband, Hardy Kergosien, all of Hazlehurst; brother, Kent Gilliam and wife, Pat of Mendenhall; three grandchildren, Regan Wichman and wife, Tracie of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, John Wichman and wife, Sharmon of Hattiesburg, and Ginnie McCardle and husband, Butch of Hazlehurst; and two great-grandchildren, Cole and Grant Wichman of Hattiesburg; and ten nieces and nephews.
