Homer Lynn Bufkin

Homer Lynn Bufkin, 84, of Hazlehurst died Saturday, March 2, 2008 at Hardy Wilson Memorial Hospital in Hazlehurst. Services were held Tuesday, March 4, 2008 from Antioch Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bufkin was a native of Hazlehurst and had formerly lived in Memphis and Jackson. He was a sales representative and branch manager for General Electric Major Appliances for 33 years before retiring in 1984. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and served as a Deacon. He served on the Board of Directors of the Copiah County Soil Conservation. He and his wife Sue owed and operated Surs Corner Fashions in Hazlehurst for 19 years. He was treasurer of the Copiah Water Association and served in the U.S. Army, 1190 th Infantry during WW II.

Survivors include daughters, Beverly Kergosien and husband Hardy of Hazlehurst and Amelia Bufkin of Hazlehurst; grandchildren, Regan Wichman and wife, Tracie, John Wichman and wife Sharmon, Jinnie McCardle and husband Butch; great- grandchildren, Cole and Grant Wichman and Hardy McCardle.
