Betty Barlow, 71, passed away May 2, 2105 at South Sunflower County Hospital. Visitation will be 2pm-3pm Wednesday at Antioch Baptist Church. Services will be 3pm Wednesday at Antioch Baptist Church with burial at Antioch Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst is handling arrangements.
Mrs. Barlow was a member of the workforce for many years. She earned a degree in Cosmetology in Greenville, MS. She worked in several salons in the Lake Village/Greenville area.
She earned her LPN and RN degrees from Northeast Louisiana University and Louisiana Tech. She was employed with Home Health Care, King Daughters Hospital, and was administrator of Leisure Lodge Nursing Home.
Her many hobbies included fishing, sewing, cooking and gardening. She was a member of Benoit Union Church where she was active for many years. Her church family was dear to her. She loved her family more than anything and was very active in each of their lives. She was a very loving and compassionate woman in every aspect of her life.
She is survived by her sons, Paul Wesley Barlow, III (Kathy) of Valley Park, MS and David Ryan Barlow of Wynnsboro, LA; daughter, Allison Barlow Redden (Mark) of Skene; step-father, Frank Thompson, Chatham, LA; step-brother, Benjamin Thompson of Chatham, LA; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
